Knottd ("we", "us", "our") is a trading name of A Million Monkeys Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Our registered address is Brighton, England.

2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Account Information
- Name (yours and your partner's)
- Email address
- Authentication data from Apple Sign In or Google Sign In (we do not store your password)
Wedding Details
- Wedding date, location, estimated guest count
- Budget (stored securely and never shared with third parties or included in emails)
- Wedding preferences, planning priorities, and any details you share in conversation
Conversations
- Messages you send to your AI wedding planner (Franck)
- Voice recordings you submit (transcribed and then deleted)
- AI-generated responses and research reports
Emails
- Emails sent on your behalf to wedding suppliers
- Inbound replies from suppliers routed through your dedicated Knottd email address
Usage Data
- Message counts, feature usage, and app interaction data
- Device information and crash reports (via Sentry) for debugging purposes
- Push notification tokens
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Provide the service: Power your AI wedding planner, generate personalised advice, research suppliers, send emails on your behalf, and track your wedding timeline
- Improve the service: Analyse usage patterns (in aggregate) to improve features and fix bugs
- Communicate with you: Send check-in messages, research reports, and service updates
- Process payments: Manage your subscription via RevenueCat (Apple/Google in-app purchases)
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data under the following legal bases:
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide you with the Knottd service you signed up for (Article 6(1)(b))
- Legitimate interest: Improving our service, preventing abuse, and ensuring security (Article 6(1)(f))
- Consent: Where you explicitly opt in, such as receiving marketing communications (Article 6(1)(a))
5. How We Process Your Conversations
Your conversations with Franck (your AI planner) are processed using third-party AI models (currently provided by Anthropic). Your messages are sent to these providers to generate responses. We do not use your conversations to train AI models. Our AI providers have their own data processing agreements that prohibit using API inputs for model training.
Your budget information is treated as confidential and is never included in outbound emails or shared with suppliers.
6. Who We Share Data With
We share data with the following categories of processors, all under appropriate data processing agreements:
- AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) — to generate AI responses and research
- Email delivery (Postmark) — to send and receive emails on your behalf
- Hosting (DigitalOcean) — to host our servers
- Payment processing (RevenueCat, Apple, Google) — to manage subscriptions
- Error tracking (Sentry) — to monitor and fix bugs
- Real-time messaging (Pusher) — to deliver messages in real time
- Search (Brave, Perplexity) — to research wedding suppliers on your behalf
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
7. Data Retention
- Account data and conversations: Retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days after deletion
- Voice recordings: Transcribed immediately and the audio file deleted
- Crash reports: Retained for 90 days
- Payment records: Retained as required by law (typically 6 years for tax purposes)
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict processing of your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure server infrastructure, and access controls. Your data is stored on servers located in the UK and EU (DigitalOcean London region).
10. International Transfers
Some of our processors (Anthropic, OpenAI, Sentry, Pusher) are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions.
11. Children
Knottd is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
